1. Who we are
This website is the online home of the Journal of Neuroscience, Psychiatry and Computational Science (JNPCS), published by SiaCore (“the publisher”). The journal and the publisher together decide how personal data is used on this site. Privacy questions can be sent through the Contact page.
2. What personal data we handle
- Account data: name, e-mail address and the roles assigned to your account. If you choose, whether you are willing to review and your review interests.
- Submission data: manuscript metadata, author names, affiliations, e-mail addresses and ORCID iDs of authors, declarations, the manuscript and supplementary files you upload, and correspondence about your submission.
- Peer-review data: reviewer invitations and responses, conflict-of-interest declarations, review reports and attachments, editorial recommendations and decisions, and editor discussions.
- Messages you send through the contact form.
- Technical and security data: a session cookie while you are signed in, and an audit log of important actions (such as sign-in, role changes, file downloads and editorial decisions) that includes the time and, for sign-in and registration, the network address.
- Published data: author names, affiliations and ORCID iDs appear publicly with published articles. Author e-mail addresses are never published.
3. How we use it
- To create and secure your account and to verify your e-mail address.
- To receive, review, decide on, edit, publish and archive manuscripts.
- To send notifications about your submissions, reviews and account.
- To protect the integrity and security of the service, to investigate misuse and to keep an accurate editorial record.
- To respond to your messages and requests.
- To make published articles discoverable, including by indexing and abstracting services.
5. How we protect it
- Connections to the site are encrypted.
- Unpublished manuscripts and review files are held in private storage and are delivered only through short-lived links issued after an access check; they cannot be reached by guessing a web address.
- Access is controlled by role and by assignment on the server, not only in the interface; accounts require a verified e-mail address.
- Important actions are recorded in an audit log.
- If a data breach affects you, we will tell you without undue delay.
6. How long we keep it
- Published articles, their author information and their version history are part of the permanent scholarly record and are kept.
- Records of submissions, peer review and decisions are kept as part of the editorial record, to resolve disputes and to support research-integrity investigations.
- Account data is kept while the account is active. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to deal with them.
- Backups are kept for a limited time and are then replaced.
8. Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to stop being listed as a willing reviewer, or to have your account deleted or anonymised. Send your request through the Contact page from the e-mail address of your account.
Some data cannot be removed: author details on a published article form part of the permanent record, and editorial records of peer review are retained as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local data-protection law.
9. Links to other sites
Articles and pages may link to other websites, such as DOI resolvers, ORCID and funders. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The version and date at the top of the page show when it last changed, and significant changes will be announced on the site.
